Midwestern AF.
Howling Minnesota artist Clayton Ryan’s steady rise into the national focus is charged by both his own brand of “Midwest as F*ck” attitude and his career as a musical chameleon. As a writer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer, he’s shared stages with John Morgan, Liam St John, Canaan Cox, Julia DiGrazia, Cristina Vane, and Joshua Quimby, and his music has appeared in FOX Sports, NASCAR, Telemundo, and NFL Sunday Night Football.
Beyond the collaborative resume, Clayton has much to hang his own name on: his debut 2024 album GHOST TOWN was streamed over 10,000 times on release day, and the title track was listed on The Current’s “Top 89 songs of 2024.” Clayton’s debut at Nashville’s Whiskey Jam yielded one of only a handful of encores in the show’s 1000 run history.
His sonic identity sprawls across many genres; GHOST TOWN weaves through country soul, piano pop, and Midwest emo territory throughout the 40-minute concept album. His upcoming music enters the punk and emo realm with full force with the 90's grunge-injected, guitar-driven country punk anthem Swishers . The single releases everywhere on March 21st.
He is touring on the album in 2025, while preparing the release of his sophomore project, to be announced in the Spring.
"First of all, Clayton Ryan has a fantastic voice. Just this huge bellow, this vibrato that just resonates... It's ridiculous."
- Pretty Fort Weekly
"The lost art of the story song. I could almost hear Gordon Lightfoot singing this."
- Marcus Hummon, Grammy-Award Winning Songwriter
"Simply put, Ryan is the kind of singer-songwriter Americana and roots music needs right now. He’s that good."
- B Sides & Badlands
